Congressional Research Service reports

One row per Congressional Research Service (CRS) report, ingested from the Congress.gov v3 REST API (/crsreport list endpoint) by build_crs_reports. The nonpartisan policy-analysis layer over the same subjects agencies regulate — complementary to congress_bills (the legislative record) and federal_register (the rule-publication record). Scope is deliberately list-level only (no per-report detail fetches), so every column comes from the list payload. Incremental by update_date, deduped on report_id; each query is pooled over whole walks, varying the page size, until one walk is clean or the pool holds exactly the declared count, because the list shifts while it is read. All columns are stored as VARCHAR.

Coverage. True range: reports whose current version is dated from 1993-10-22 on (published_date is the current version's date, not first issue). (measured 2026-09-23)

Column Type Description
report_id VARCHAR CRS report id (e.g. R48641, IN12713). Primary key / dedup key.
title VARCHAR Report title as returned by the list endpoint.
report_type VARCHAR CRS product category from contentType (e.g. Reports, Posts).
status VARCHAR Congress.gov's own status, Active or Archived, as stated; the list route does not define it, and an Archived report can carry a recent published_date.
published_date VARCHAR The publisher's publishDate for the report's current version, as the list route states it (ISO 8601 string): the latest update's date, not first issue (R44997, first issued in 2017, carries 2026-04-29 at version 16). The list route gives no first-issue date.
update_date VARCHAR Date the Congress.gov record was last updated (ISO 8601 string). Incremental window key.
version VARCHAR Version number of the report as returned by the list endpoint.
url VARCHAR Congress.gov API URL for the report's detail resource.
